1、 Connection between traction saddle and traction pin
Before connecting, carefully check whether there is enough lubricating grease on the surface of the tractor saddle, and apply the lubricating grease evenly. Check if there are any other foreign objects on the towing pin and towing skateboard of the semi-trailer to ensure the cleanliness of the towing skateboard. This is the only way to reduce accidental wear and tear after connecting the Kaide trailer.
Specific operating steps:
1. Adjust the support legs to ensure that the height of the semi-trailer towing skateboard is compatible with the towing saddle. Generally, the height of the semi-trailer towing skateboard should be 1-3 centimeters lower than the center position of the upper plane of the towing saddle, and be careful not to be too high. Otherwise, sometimes not only can it not be connected, but it can also damage the traction seat, traction pin, and related parts. Moreover, with the development of vehicle technology, high-end heavy-duty trucks are equipped with ECAS (Air Suspension System) control systems, which can adjust the body height by towing the vehicle, simplifying the manual operation of semi-trailer height steps in the past and making it more efficient.
2. Operate the locking mechanism of the traction seat to open the locking block and make it in a free state.
When the tractor is reversing, the centerline of the tractor and semi-trailer should strive to be consistent, and the deviation of the two vehicle centerlines should be limited to 40mm or less. Align the saddle mouth of the tractor with the towing pin and slowly reverse until a "click" sound is heard. When the locking block returns, the tractor and semi-trailer are successfully towed.
4. Check if the locking block of the traction seat locks the traction pin and if it locks securely.
5. Move the tractor forward slightly and check if the connection is good.
2、 Electrical connection between tractor and semi-trailer
1. Connect the two air pipe joints (commonly known as handshakes) on the tractor to the two air pipe joints on the semi-trailer. At this time, the air supply pipeline of the tractor is connected to the air supply pipeline of the semi-trailer, and the control pipeline of the tractor is connected to the control pipeline of the semi-trailer (note the color of the joint: install in the same color, do not install in reverse).
After the air connectors are connected to each other, the semi-trailer air circuit connection disconnect switch on the tractor should be unscrewed to put it in a ventilated state, otherwise it cannot supply air to the semi-trailer braking system and the braking system cannot work.
3. Start the engine, observe the pressure gauge in the cab, and increase the pressure in the tractor and semi-trailer air reservoirs to the specified pressure.
4. Check for air leaks in the air circuit and verify that the braking system is functioning properly.
5. Insert the cable connection plug of the tractor into the seven hole socket at the front end of the semi-trailer until it clicks into place on the seven hole plug block.
6. Check whether the electrodes are well connected and confirm whether the edge lights, tail lights, and other lights are working properly. After hanging up the semi-trailer and confirming that all instruments are working properly, you can start driving again!
